Urban trees provide their main benefits to our communities when they are alive. They supply shade, clean the air and water, and bring beauty and soul to the urban landscape. When they can no longer provide these benefits as living trees, we want to find the highest and best uses for them in their next manifestation. One of our goals in urban logging is to prevent these trees from becoming firewood or mulch whenever possible, and instead, make them available to become lumber, flooring, furniture, or any number of other valuable and useful products.
Even when carefully managed, there are many trees that need to be removed from urban environments because of death, disease, damage from storms or insects, and other hazards. Urban forests produce more usable lumber than most people would expect. The urban forest products industry presents an exciting area of growth and opportunity.
We specialize in recovering wood that would otherwise be wasted or underutilized. Trees that are usually burned up, chipped up or thrown into landfills, we turn into high quality lumber that can be used for a higher purpose. The impact is both local and global. Every tree we harvest, mill, and use for quality wood products is one less tree that is cut down somewhere else. We love what we do and believe we provide a valuable service to our local community, and to the global environment as well.
