We received a call from a farmer who had a large Walnut Tree growing in his back yard that he wanted removed. Although it was a beautiful tree, it was destroying his yard with the falling walnuts and leaves. The tree also started to drop dead branches, which is very dangerous. Instead of the tree going to firewood, we told the farmer that we would remove it for him. So that is just what we did. This job was a little tricky because he had a rod iron fence built around his yard with a section of it having a gate. Luckily, that section was in the exact spot that the tree would fall. We cut the tree down below the ground so there wouldn’t be a stump sticking up for someone to trip and fall on. The log ended up measuring 8′ in length and averaged over 50″ wide from bottom to top. It is going to make beautiful slabs that will in turn make beautiful furniture. Find our Wood Slabs here. We were told that this tree was planted in the late 1850’s.
